Margaret Grun Kibben

January 8, 2021: Margaret Grun Kibben has been named the first female Congressional Chaplain in history by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Kibben is a U.S. Presbyterian minister and retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral. She served as the 26th Chief of Chaplains of the U.S. Navy from 2014 to 2018 and was the 18th Chaplain of the U.S. Marine Corps from 2010 to 2014. Kibben was recommended by a bipartisan committee of House of Representative members, and agreed upon by Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. She succeeds Reverend Pat Conroy, a Roman Catholic priest who served as Congressional Chaplain for the past decade.
