TechnoMile is Ready for the Transition to beta.SAM.gov. Are you?

November 7, 2019   By TechnoMile

As a GSA partner and tester of beta.SAM.gov—TechnoMile is ready with the new integration.

Some people know it as Federal Business Opportunities.  Some call it FedBizOpps.  Still, others refer to it by its domain name, FBO.gov. For more than 15 years, FBO.gov served as an online repository of all the available contracts for any organization to do business with the U.S. government.  But it’s about to be retired.

Ten separate online government platforms are in the process of merging into a single entity: beta.SAM.gov. One of these platforms, FBO.gov, is scheduled to be decommissioned this Friday, November 8, in favor of the new website.

Government contractors now need to plan for the transition and to familiarize themselves with beta.SAM.gov. To start, many organizations will require new login information for the new site as the government moves to a single sign-on approach. (See “other resources” at end of this blog.) Once logged in, contractors navigate to solicitations using the Contract Opportunities option in the dropdown list at the top of the home page.  From there, new features will be available, such as an improved search, a new user interface and easier integration with the nine other platforms moving to beta.SAM.gov. Those platforms include FPDS.gov, CPARS.gov, and legacy SAM.gov.

Since the inception of TechnoMile GovCon Suite, our customers have been able to sync information from a particular solicitation on FBO.gov into our pipeline management tool, which was made for government contractors. As a partner with the General Services Administration (GSA), TechnoMile serves as a tester of beta.SAM.gov’s API functionality. As a result of a year’s worth of work, TechnoMile will replace the FBO.gov integration with the new beta.SAM.gov integration.

In keeping with our strategy to eliminate the need for business development and capture teams to bounce between various third-party websites and internal programs to track their work, a contract from beta.SAM.gov only needs to be synced once with the corresponding record in TechnoMile’s GovCon Suite. Going forward, the sync will occur automatically and in perpetuity.

So whether or not the FedBizOpps or FBO.gov terminology continues to be part of the lexicon of government contracting beyond November 8, or whether the new beta.SAM.gov name quickly catches on, TechnoMile customers will continue to benefit from the efficiency and effectiveness of the GovCon Suite.
